Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 20, 2026

In plain terms: we collect what you tell us so we can build your plan, we never sell or share it, we never contact the family members or executors you name in your plan, and we commit to never reading your personal entries ourselves except in the narrow cases described below. The rest of this page spells that out in full.
🔒 Please don’t enter Social Security numbers, bank or financial account numbers, passwords, or PINs anywhere in Legaxi — for yourself or anyone else. See Section 5 below for why, and for where that kind of information belongs instead.

1. Who We Are

Legaxi (“Legaxi,” “we,” “us”) operates legaxi.net, a guided end-of-life planning and life story platform. This policy explains what information we collect when you use Legaxi, how we use it, and the choices you have.

2. Information We Collect

Account information: your email address and password (stored securely — we never see or store your plaintext password) when you create an account.

Plan information: the answers you provide in your guided plan — wishes, key contacts, executor and beneficiary names, references to financial and medical matters, and similar details you choose to document. We do not ask for and recommend you never enter actual account numbers, passwords, or Social Security numbers into Legaxi — see our offline Asset & Personal Items Worksheet for that information instead.

Life Story information: memories, reflections, and biographical details you enter if you use the Life Story / memoir feature.

Executor Toolkit information: if you use the Executor Toolkit, information about an estate you are helping to settle, and your progress on the checklist.

Photos: any photos you choose to upload.

Technical information: standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, and device information, collected automatically for security and to operate the service reliably.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information you provide solely to operate and improve Legaxi, specifically to:

  • Generate your plan, life story narrative, and executor checklist
  • Save and let you return to your work across sessions
  • Communicate with you about your account or the service (password resets, product updates)
  • Maintain the security and reliability of the service
  • Comply with legal obligations

4. How AI Is Used

To generate your plan and life story narrative, your answers are sent to Anthropic’s Claude API — the commercial API, not a consumer chat product. Under Anthropic’s commercial terms, this data is not used to train AI models, and is automatically deleted from Anthropic’s systems after a standard retention period. The AI’s role is to organize and write clearly from what you provide — it does not add information you have not given it.

5. How We Protect Your Information

Your data is encrypted in transit and stored in an access-controlled database with standard security practices used across the industry. We are actively working toward stronger, client-side encryption that would make your plan unreadable to Legaxi itself — but as of this writing, that feature is not yet complete, and we want to be direct about that rather than overstate our security. Until it ships, your data is protected the same way most secure web applications protect their users’ information, but it is not yet fully encrypted at rest.

Because of this, please do not enter Social Security numbers, bank or financial account numbers, passwords, PINs, or other security passcodes anywhere in Legaxi. This applies to your own information as well as any information you provide about other people. Our Asset & Personal Items Worksheet and Executor tools are specifically designed so that kind of sensitive information can be tracked offline instead, on your own computer, never on our servers.

6. We Do Not Sell or Share Your Information

Legaxi does not sell your personal information, ever, to anyone. We do not share it with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for their own marketing purposes.

We do share limited information with a small number of service providers who help us operate Legaxi, strictly to provide the service to you — for example, our database and hosting provider, our email delivery provider, and the AI provider described above. These providers are bound by their own confidentiality and data protection obligations and are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes.

We may also disclose information if required to do so by law, or where necessary to protect the safety of you or others.

We never contact the people you name in your plan. Your plan may include contact information for family members, an executor, beneficiaries, or others — that information is stored only for your own reference and for the plan you generate. We will never reach out to those people directly, market Legaxi to them, or use their information for any purpose beyond what you’ve asked Legaxi to do for you.

7. Our Commitment to Your Privacy

Legaxi is not currently a “zero-knowledge” service — as the operator of the platform, we have the technical ability to access data stored in our database, the same as is standard for essentially all web applications that are not fully end-to-end encrypted. We want to be honest about that rather than imply otherwise.

What we commit to is this: we do not read, review, or access your personal entries, except where necessary to provide you technical support at your specific request, to comply with a legal obligation, or to protect the safety of you or another person. Your plan is yours.

8. Your Rights and Choices

  • Access — you can view everything you have entered at any time by logging into your account
  • Correction — you can edit your answers at any time
  • Export — you can download your plan as a PDF at any time
  • Deletion — you can delete your account and associated data from your Account settings

9. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active, so you can return to your plan at any time. If you delete your account, your personal data is deleted from our active systems, subject to any limited retention required for legal or security purposes (such as fraud prevention).

10. Children's Privacy

Legaxi is intended for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a minor has created an account, we will take steps to delete that account and associated data.

11. Cookies

We use a minimal set of cookies necessary to keep you signed in and to operate the site reliably. We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.

12. Third-Party Links

Our blog and other pages may link to outside resources (for example, government or nonprofit websites we reference for legal information). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of sites we do not operate.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as Legaxi evolves. We will update the date at the top of this page when we do, and for material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you directly.
